This is about me…

but it’s not about me.

It’s about
you.

The girl going through hardship (or did I mean hard shit? Silly autocorrect).

Maybe you’re a mom, and it’s about your daughter.
Maybe it’s your younger self or someone you love who's in the thick of it right now.
It’s about the version of you who had to get gritty just to keep going.

I created Group of Grit as a space for every girl and woman navigating the moments that change everything. Where you don’t have to pretend to be okay. Where you belong – exactly as you are.

Meet The Founder
👋

Hi! I'm Alex!

I’m a proud Canadian girly, 30 years old, splitting my time between Virginia Beach and Toronto with my partner Ryan and our blue heeler, Bodhi.

I was always the athlete. The one chasing the next goal, the next rep, the next big moment. Finally a professional basketball player! Yahoo.

🏀
And then... everything changed. My body said “no more."

A “chronic” illness forced me to stop, to question who I was without my sport, and to rebuild my identity from the inside out.

Finding my way back into sport allowed me to discover bobsleigh and train for the Olympic Games.

🛷

My personal and professional journey wasn’t easy. ISN’T, I should say. It’s still filled with confusion, fear, and frustration – but it also taught me what true grit really means.

Now, I’m channeling that into something bigger. I’m using the energy that once fueled my athletic dreams to help other girls like me. Women navigating illness, identity shifts, or uncertain seasons. Girls who need a reminder that their story matters, and that it’s possible to come back stronger.

Why I Started GOG

Sport taught me how to compete, but it didn’t teach me how to heal or find my voice when my body and identity shifted.

Group of Grit was born to fill that gap. To hold space for the hard parts and
the hope, and to remind you that you're not weak for struggling.

You're strong for surviving.

_____
The Values Behind the Brand

Empowerment
I believe you’re not just surviving this. You’re rewriting the story as you go.
Empowerment, to me, means giving girls and caregivers the tools, support, and belief they need to take back their voice and trust their own strength.
Community
Hard things feel a little less heavy when you’re surrounded by people who
get it.
Group of Grit was built to be that place. A space for real connection, shared stories, and the kind of support that makes you feel less alone.
Compassion
Grit isn’t all grind. It’s also grace.
I believe in strength that makes room for softness… space to rest, to feel, and to be kind to yourself (especially when things get hard).
Growth
You’re allowed to change. In fact, you’re supposed to.
Growth isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about staying open through the messy middle. That’s where the real transformation happens.
Inclusivity
Everyone’s story matters.
Whatever your background, your identity, or your path, I want you to feel seen, heard, and truly welcome here.

FYI. This space was built for you.
If you see yourself in my story, or the girl you’re showing up for does, I want you to know this:

You’re not alone.
You belong here.
And when you’re ready, I’ll be right here to help you get gritty again.
